Missing Crawl Space Vent Leads to a Rat Infestation in West Creek, NJ
Challenge
We were sent out the home of a new Home Protection Plan client in West Creek, NJ to begin her service. As we were inspecting the property we noticed that on the right side of the home, there was a brick in place of a missing crawl space vent. We took a closer look and found a large number of rat droppings near it. When then went inside to inspect the crawl space and found even more rat droppings throughout the area. We told the owner, who knew that he was missing a vent and mentioned that he never got around to putting in the vent! Fortunately, once the rats are gone, he's going to hire a professional to put in the missing crawl space vent.
Solution
We installed several Ready-to-Use rodent bait stations near the opening, throughout the crawl space, and around the home. Next, we installed several snap traps that are inside temper-proof, child resistant boxes near the bait stations. Lastly, we scheduled several follow-up visits to monitor the rat infestation, apply any additional treatments, and replenish the bait stations as needed.
