Restaurant Full of Fruit Flies in Allenhurst, NJ
Challenge
A business owner in Allenhurst, NJ called our office after noticing a large number of fruit flies throughout his restaurant. Once we arrived and started inspecting the area, we found a buildup of discarded food and liquids underneath the equipment as well as several floor drains that were dirty and full of garbage. There was also a massive buildup off grease behind the kitchen equipment. We showed the owner and suggested a few simple sanitation procedures to keep his business clean and pest-free. He agreed to our suggestions and went right to cleaning!
Solution
In the meantime, we applied a liquid application in all the floor drains and then scrubbed them out with our heavy-duty scrubbing brush. This application removes the bad bacteria in the drain, which is the breeding ground for the fruit flies. Afterward, we applied a bio-foam solution in the floor drains. This product removes all the organic build-up, odors, and scum inside them. Next, we placed several fruit fly traps near the areas of the highest volume and treated them with a fly bait. What happens is the attractant in the traps draws the fruit flies close and the bait exterminates them within moments of contact. Lastly, we scheduled several follow up inspections to monitor the infestation and apply any additional treatments if needed.
