Little Black Ants Invade Classroom in Freehold, NJ
Challenge
We were sent out to a school in Freehold, NJ after the maintenance discovered a large number of ants in one of the classrooms. When we arrived we were directed to the area where the activity had been seen. The evidence was immediately obvious due to a pile of sand that was next to the baseboard on the exterior wall. Upon closer inspection, we identified this species as little black ants.
Solution
Since this was a school that we were servicing, certain IPM (Integrated Pest Management) protocols must be followed. We decided to treat along the baseboards with an ant gel bait. The ants love this bait and will bring it back to their nest and share it throughout their colony. A short while later, the colony will be exterminated. We then went outside and treated the grassy areas with a granular bait that will accomplish the same result as the gel bait.
