New Business Owner Inherits Fruit Flies in Beachwood, NJ
Challenge
A new entrepreneur recently purchased a new commercial property in Beachwood, NJ, and had plans to renovate it and turn it into a new restaurant! The only thing preventing him from accomplishing his lifelong dream was the massive fruit fly infestation throughout the building!
What caused the fruit fly infestation? Almost every single floor drain had a massive build-up of gunk, liquids, and discarded food debris inside them. Fruit flies are attracted to rotting produce, which will ferment and produce alcohol which they will feed on. Looks like the previous owner wasn't too keen on sanitation.
Solution
First, we scrubbed out all floor drains and then treated them with a liquid product that removes the bad bacteria from the drains. The bad bacteria is the breeding ground for the fruit flies. Once that is eliminated, so are the fruit flies. Next, we applied a bio-foam solution in each drain. This product removes the organic build-up, odors, and scum in the drains. Lastly, we treated the high infestation areas with a fly bait to control the adult fruit flies.
Once we finished, we spoke to the new owner and mentioned a few simple sanitation procedures to prevent any future fruit fly or any other pest infestation.
