Odorous House Ants Love to Nest in Wall Voids in Point Pleasant, NJ
Challenge
Recently, we went out on a service call to a homeowner in Point Pleasant, NJ who reported seeing a large number of ants in her basement. When we inspected the area, we found a large infestation of odorous house ants. Odorous house ants are tiny, fast ants that emit a rotten coconut smell when they are crushed or startled.
Now that we identified the type of ant that was infesting the home, we need to find out how they got in! After a thorough examination, we determined that the odorous house ants were nesting inside a small void in the foundation wall.
Solution
First, we applied a liquid application to all the cracks and crevices throughout the basement, the entire exterior foundation of the home, and directly to the ants' nest. Next, we treated all the grassy areas with a granular bait and then treated all the odorous house ant trails with an ant gel bait. Lastly, we sealed all the cracks and gaps with a waterproof, premium adhesive.
The odorous house ants will come in contact with any of these products, return to their nest, and share the treatments with each other and their queen. A short while later, the colony is exterminated.
