Termites Snacking on the Sheet Rock in Allenhurst, NJ
Challenge
Recently, we treated a commercial property in Allenhurst, NJ for termites. After examining the building from top to bottom, we found termite mud tubing in a small crack in the tile floor in the boiler room.
When subterranean termites surface above the ground, they build mud tubes to stay in a moist environment, survive above ground, and travel between their colony and a food source. Continuing our inspection, we found an abundance of termites feasting on the sheetrock! Since drywall is partially made of cellulose, termites will and can feed on the paper in drywall.
Solution
First, we drilled into the floor and injected a liquid termiticide. This application binds to the treated soil and creates a protective zone that the termites can't detect. After treating the boiler room, we treated the entire exterior of the building. Once the termites come in contact with the treatment, they'll transfer it throughout their colony.
In a short amount of time, the termites will be exterminated and the building will be protected for many years to come.
