Dirty Soda Machine Causes Causes Fruit Fly Infestation in Morganville, NJ
Challenge
While servicing this commercial establishment in Morganville, NJ, we noticed that there were a lot of fruit flies near a particular area. We took a closer look and discovered that there was a large build-up of debris and gunk in the floor drain, spilled liquids on the sides of the foundation beverage area, and food debris underneath the sinks and equipment.
Fruit flies thrive in moist, smelly organic debris and breed in areas where water can settle and allow a buildup of organic matter. There was also a buildup of debris and liquids behind the kitchen equipment as well as spilled soda all over the dispense lines. We brought these sanitation issues to the owner's attention and recommended a few simple cleaning procedures to prevent any future pest infestations.
Solution
Both the owner and his staff immediately began to clean the place from top to bottom to get rid of all the problems areas. As they were cleaning, we treated the high infestation areas with a fly bait to control the adult fruit flies. Next, we applied a liquid application in all the floor drains and used a heavy-duty brush to thoroughly scrub them out. This product removes the bad bacteria in the drains, which eliminates the fruit fly's breeding habitat.
Afterward, we applied a bio-foam solution to all the floor drains. This application removes the organic build-up, odors, and scum in the drains. Lastly, we scheduled several follow-up visits to, if needed, apply any additional treatments and monitor the infestation.
