Hidden Cockroaches in Wall Township, NJ
Challenge
While this homeowner in Wall Township, NJ, was putting her groceries away in her kitchen, she spotted a cockroach crawling on her floor. She immediately called our office and we were sent out to inspect and treat.
As we began our inspection, we noticed a moderate amount of German cockroaches harboring behind the microwave and the oven. Cockroaches can spread at least 33 kinds of bacteria, 6 kinds of parasitic worms, and 7 other kinds of human pathogens. German cockroaches are approximately a 1/2 inch long and are light brown to tan in color. They have two dark parallel stripes on their back that start just behind the head. They are most often found in kitchens and bathrooms since they prefer a warm, humid environment near their food source.
Solution
First, we applied a knockdown aerosol product to every single crack, crevice, appliance, and baseboard throughout the home. This product flushes the cockroaches out of hiding and rapidly exterminates them. Next, we treated the area with an EPA registered insect growth regulator combined with a residual product. This treatment affects the cockroaches' reproductive system and prevents them from reaching adulthood.
Lastly, we scheduled several follow-up visits to monitor the infestation and repeat the treatment process until the cockroaches are no longer present in the home.
