Ants Devouring the Bird Food in Milltown, NJ

Challenge

A resident in one of our long-term care facilities in Milltown, NJ, noticed a large number of ants in his living room. We inspected the area and noticed a line of ants trailing from a nearby window all the way to a pile of birdseed on the floor. Turns out, there was a tiny crack in the window and the birdseed was attracting the ants to the area. 

Solution

First, we cleaned up all the birdseed on the floor and suggested a few simple and easy sanitation tips in order to prevent ants and other pests from infesting his home. Next, we began our treatment, but before we did the resident was very concerned about the use of certain products in his apartment because he has parakeets. We assured him that we would take the utmost precautions and treat the ants without harming anyone or any pets.

So we treated all the cracks, baseboards, and crevices in the living room with an ant gel bait. Next, we went outside and treated the exterior with a liquid residual and all the grassy areas with a granular bait. The ants are going to come in contact with any of these products, return to their nest and share them with each other and their queen. By doing this, they are rapidly spreading the treatments throughout their colony, and in a short amount of time, the ants will be exterminated. Before we left, we sealed up all the gaps in the window with a premium, waterproof adhesive.
