Mosquito Reduction in Freehold, NJ
Challenge
Recently, I went out on a service call for a homeowner in Freehold, NJ who was having an issue with mosquitoes all over his backyard. As I began inspecting, I immediately came across a pond in the backyard that had a fountain in it, but it was no longer working. Upon further examination, I noticed that the pond was full of mosquitoes! Continuing my inspection, I noticed that there were several piles of leaves that were full of mosquitoes. Mosquitoes will seek shelter from the elements wherever they can find it and hang around any type of yard debris they can find.
I informed the homeowner and advised him that his property would need to be properly landscaped in order to reduce the chances of mosquitoes harboring on his property. After speaking with him, he immediately began to clean up his yard and hired a contractor to fill in the broken pond in the backyard.
Solution
I equipped my backpack mister and treated the entire exterior of the home with a direct contact residual. Any mosquitos that come into contact with this residual are eliminated. After spraying, I tossed briquets containing a larvicide into the broken pond to keep any mosquito eggs that may have been laid in this area from ever becoming an adult mosquito.
With a thorough application around the home, the mosquito population will be drastically reduced. By attacking the mosquitoes on all fronts we are ensuring that we are doing our due diligence to fix this before it becomes an even worse problem.
