Old Fridge Filled with German Cockroaches in Matawan, NJ
Challenge
A new customer in Matawan, NJ called our office after finding a cockroach on top of his kitchen counter. If you ever find a cockroach roaming around your home during the daytime, that's not a good sign. Cockroaches are nocturnal and stay in the dark whenever possible. When they are seen in the open or in the light, it usually means that a large infestation is present!
I began inspecting the kitchen and, sure enough, found several German cockroaches roaming behind the toaster. German cockroaches are the smallest of the invading roaches. The adults are only about ½ inch long and are light brown with two dark stripes on their shield. I noticed that one of the cockroaches was scurrying underneath an old refrigerator, so I decided to inspect it. As soon as I opened the door, a wave of cockroaches came spilling out of the fridge! There were hundreds of live baby German cockroaches harboring on the racks!
Solution
I informed the homeowner about the massive infestation that I found. He mentioned that he was already getting rid of the fridge and a junk removal company will be coming by later that day.
For treatment, I'm going to use an aerosol flusher, which will not only flush the cockroaches out of hiding but also rapidly eliminate them. Next, I'm going to use a fogging application combined with a growth regulator that will not only reduce the German cockroaches' ability to reproduce but exterminate them as well.
Since this infestation was quite intensive, I scheduled several follow-up visits to monitor the cockroach infestation and apply any additional treatments if needed.
