Bald-Faced Hornets Nest Hangs High in Jackson, NJ
Challenge
Recently, we received a call from a property manager of a condo association in Jackson, NJ who reported seeing a hornet's nest on one of his buildings. I was sent out to investigate and treat. When I arrived, I inspected the building and discovered not just one, but two bald-faced hornets' nest! One was located in a nearby tree, while the other was located on the soffit area of the home about 25 feet up!
Both of these were located in dangerous locations where people could easily get stung, and since bald-faced hornets have a short temper, these nests needed to be removed immediately.
Solution
I decided to treat the nest on the building first. I grabbed my extendable pole and directly injected the nest with a residual aerosol application. Immediately, the hornets started to emerge from the nest and quickly fall to their doom. I then turned my attention to the bald-faced hornets' nest in the tree and repeated the same process.
Once the hornet activity of both nests ceased, I equipped my scraper to the extendable pole, removed the nest on the building, and applied a residual product to prevent future stinging insects from establishing a nest in the area. I then removed the other nest located in tree as well as the branch it was attached to, and properly disposed of both nests.
