Royal Cockroach Flush in Brick, NJ
Challenge
A new business owner in Brick, NJ had recently purchased an old restaurant that he was going to renovate and rebuild. There was just one MAJOR issue — a massive German cockroach infestation.
These pesky insect thrive in kitchens where food, warmth and water are readily available. The German cockroach can reproduce at an alarming rate. The female can lay up to 30 nymphs at a time, which she carries in the oothecae (egg case) attached to her body. The female rarely comes out of her hiding place to feed, which makes control difficult.
When regular sprays and baits cannot get the cockroach population in control, the technician needs a more intensive approach.
Solution
Before any work is to be done, everything must be removed and anything that isn't removed must be covered, or washed thoroughly afterwards. After everything was removed and covered, we applied a non-repellent residual application around the infested areas, cracks and crevices. This application is an EPA registered growth regulator that affects the German cockroaches reproduction system so they can't reproduce.
All the baseboards are treated beforehand to create a barrier, so when the cockroaches start running from their hiding places they come in contact with the product. This treatment knocks down the majority of the cockroach population, making control more manageable. After all the infected areas have been treated appropriately, we scheduled a follow-up inspection at a later date to determine if any more harborage areas exist and apply any additional treatment.
