Cockroach problem in Brielle, NJ kitchen
Challenge
Today, I just finished an after-hours intensive inspection for pest activity for one of our new commercial account, a restaurant in Brielle, NJ. The restaurant just changed ownership and a renovation was in progress. The sanitation of the restaurant was not up to the standards of the new owners. After observing cockroach activity during the renovation, they contacted Cowleys for a complete inspection and treatment so they would have a fresh start on opening day. For these large-scale commercial jobs, Cowleys generally assigns two technicians for the servicing.
Solution
We used a micro-injector to apply product in all of the cracks and crevices where roaches could be hiding, as well as an Actisol Aerosol Unit that combines a small volume of product with a large volume of air so that it becomes atomized in the nozzle at the end of the wand. With its high volume air-flow, the machine forces product inside the deep harborage where the target insect are living and breeding. Its one of my favorite machines because it thoroughly flushes out the pests and gives them no place to run and no place to hide. We used the Actisol to fog into the kitchen equipment, motor boxes, wall junctions, and any other potential harborage area. Roaches are attracted to warm, damp environments so we focus out treatment around heat-generating machinery such as refrigerators and dishwashing equipment.
This treatment really brought out the hidden roaches, and we were able to immediately kill hundreds of them, and will continue working after we leave. A follow-up visit was scheduled to re-inspect and re-apply product a necessary, but for a first-wave treatment, we were extremely successful in locking down the roach population and getting this restaurant up to snuff. We are always pleased when new restaurant owners take sanitation and hygiene issues seriously and understand that it is critical to the successful operation of a restaurant.
