Crawl Space Encapsulation - Vapor barrier installed in Jackson, NJ

Finally, with SilverGlo and drainage matting in place, we installed a heavy duty 20-mil CleanSpace vinyl vapor barrier. This vapor barrier is an engineered film made of layers of high density and low density polyethylene. With its polyester cord reinforcement, the barrier is mechanically fastened to the walls. The barriers are available in various thickness mils. For this Jackson crawl space, we used 12-mil thick "pinkie" rolls on the pillars. Although our crawl spaces always look great when we're done, which always impresses potential buyers, the benefits are far more than just cosmetic. We transform the crawl space into a clean, dry area that keeps away water and moisture. The CleanSpace technology also changes the thermal boundary to the bottom of the house instead of the crawl space ceiling, which translates into clean energy and heating/cooling cost savings.
