Turkey Vultures on the Roof
As you can see, there were several turkey vultures roosting on the roof.
Problems with Bird Poop
Bird droppings are acidic and corrosive, which can eat away roofing material and weaken tar and tar paper. This all will shorten the lifespan of the roof.
We Installed Shock Track
To safely deter the turkey vultures off the roof, we installed Shock Track.
No Harm to the Turkey Vultures
The unique electrically charged tracks impart a mild electrical shock when the turkey vultures land on them. The shock will not harm them but will condition them to avoid the area. The shock track gets affixed to roof, with no screws, and is connected to a solar-powered charger. Once the turkey vultures landed, they were frightened immediately - you can still see their panicked wing flap imprint in the snow!

The Dadi Long Legs will startle the turkey vultures and prevent them from roosting on the roof. This is considered a physical barrier deterrent, which is the most effective long-term solution and most importantly, doesn't harm the turkey vultures. Now the roof is properly excluded from the turkey vultures.
