Photo Album: Massive Fruit Fly Infestation in Englishtown, NJ
We went out on a service call for one of Cowleys commercial accounts, a cafeteria in Englishtown, NJ. The manager was complaining of a large number of fruit flies invading his kitchen.
Time for Some Detective Work
After some investigating, we noticed some flies exiting a tiny hole in the corner of the lid to the dresser trap. We removed the lid to find a break in the rubber seal allowing these flies to take up residence and breed within the filth and organic build-up within.
Ignoring A Problem Will Lead to Disastrous Results
The problem had been that the manager and his crew had ignored the problem for so long. It wasn't until the fruit flies were making their way out into the cafeteria area is when they decided to take action.
Vacuum Up the Larva
First, the pupa and larva were vacuumed up.
Scrub Away the Fruit Flies
Then we scrubbed and removed all of the debris. Next, we applied a bio-foam solution that removes all of the build-up, odors, and scum to help prevent and get rid of the remaining fruit flies. Afterwards we discussed proper sanitation methods with the manager in order to prevent any future pest infestations.
