A homeowner in Somerville, NJ recently called our office and mentioned that she spotted a cockroach in her family room. I was sent out to inspect and treat. As I was inspecting the family room, I noticed that the homeowner had a movie-style popcorn maker. As I took a closer look, I noticed that the popcorn maker was filled with cockroaches! Apparently, the homeowner hasn't used or cleaned the popcorn maker in quite some time. This led to a build-up of food and butter debris inside, which is what attracted the cockroaches. If the cockroaches aren't taken care of, this will lead to a severe infestation! I brought this to the homeowner's attention and, after thinking about it for a bit, she decided to dispose of the popcorn maker. Afterward, with the owner's permission, I applied a residual aerosol product, that neutralizes the cockroaches almost immediately, to all the potential harborage areas throughout the living room and the adjacent rooms. Lastly, I scheduled a follow-up inspection to guarantee that there are no more cockroaches harboring in this home. Popcorn Maker Attracts Cockroaches in Somerville, NJ
