Wildlife Removal Photo Album: Flying Squirrels Chewing on the Wires in Somerset, NJ
The flying squirrels were going to town on the wires.
Messy Attic
As we inspected, we noticed that the attic was in complete disarray. A lot of the insulation was torn up and there was fecal matter from flying squirrels throughout the area.
Wires Chewed Up
We even found several wires that were chewed up by the flying squirrels.
Fire Hazard
All of these chewed up wires present a fire hazard for the entire family. Continuing our inspection, we found out how the flying squirrels got into the attic - through the gable vent!
Retrieval Devices Set-Up
We installed a one-way over the gable vent, temporarily enclosed the area off with hardware cloth, and set-up several baited devices close by. A one-way is going to allow the flying squirrels to exit the attic safely but prevent them from getting back in.
Safe Removal of the Flying Squirrels
Once we safely retrieve all the flying squirrels, we will take them to a safer location, disinfect the attic, and install a louvered vent guard over the gable to prevent any future nuisance wildlife intrusions.
