Wildlife Removal Photo Album: Raccoon Destroys Soffit in Longbranch, NJ
A homeowner in Long Branch, NJ contacted Cowleys believing he had raccoons in his attic after hearing noises late at night and finding a large ripped hole in his soffit.
Finding the Main Access Point
Upon arriving I noticed that the soffit was pushed up and damaged. I inspected the attic and found the definite signs of raccoons.
Let's Get Trapping
I placed a two-door comstock trap in front of the main access point. If the raccoon (or any other animal) where to leave or enter the attic it would get caught in the trap, as there are pieces of wire that go across the trap that triggers once the animal walks through the trap.
Set up a Placement Trap as Backup
I also placed a regular baited trap in the same area just in case there were more than one raccoon. I also temporarily sealed off the main access area with hardware cloth in order to force the raccoon to pass through the traps.
Sealed Up
After safely capturing the raccoon, I placed a piece of white metal flashing over the main access point and sealed it off from future breaches.
