Safely Handling a Mole Infestation in Oceanport, NJ
Challenge
A new customer in Oceanport, NJ called our Little Rascals Nuisance Wildlife Division after noticing tunnels throughout her yard & garden bed and was concerned that she might have some sort of wildlife living in her yard. When we arrived and inspected the area we determined that she had an infestation of moles in her yard. Moles are subterranean creatures, tunnel underground and lift the soil upwards, loosening it up. They also have deeper feeding tunnels that they use as a network and have secondary runways that appear on your lawn’s surface that look more like raised ridges and have little volcano-shaped mounds.
Solution
The most effective solution to guarantee that we're targeting the moles is to use our Burrow RX. The Burrow RX is a carbon monoxide device that is an effective way to eliminate moles and other burrowing pests. It uses a smoke-oil tracer that shows us where the majority of the carbon monoxide is going, how far we are reaching in the tunnel, and if there are any leaks. If we noticed any leaks, we fill them in. The gas isn’t toxic to humans because we are outdoors in a well-ventilated area. This method is much more humane than using a pesticide or a trap and it guarantees that we are eliminating the moles. There’s also no residual that is left behind, so the family is in no danger of getting a residue on them and the mole situation is properly taken care of.
