Moles Destroying Homeowners Lawn in Shrewsbury, NJ
Challenge
Moles were causing quite the destruction to this homeowners' lawn in Shrewsbury, NJ. After dealing with it for quite some time, she called Cowleys and we were sent out.
As soon as we began our inspection, we spotted multiple feeder and travel tunnels throughout the yard. Travel tunnels are usually around a landscaped edge that’s long and relatively straight. Moles use them to travel from tunnel to tunnel as often as 3 times a day and they’re considered active tunnels. You can always tell where a travel tunnel is because the ground will feel soft to the touch.
Feeder tunnels, on the other hand, look more like an above-ground spider web. They’re created as moles explore new feeding areas, and they’re often abandoned and inactive.
Solution
In order to get a handle on the mole problem, we’re using our Burrow RX. The Burrow RX is a carbon monoxide device that is an effective way to eliminate moles and other burrowing pests. It uses a smoke-oil tracer to show us where the majority of the carbon monoxide is going, how far we are reaching in the tunnel, and if there are any leaks. If we noticed any leaks, we fill them in.
The gas isn’t toxic to humans because we are outdoors in a well-ventilated area. The Burrow RX is much more humane than using a pesticide or a trap and it guarantees that we are eliminating the moles. There’s also no residual that is left behind, so the family is in no danger of getting a residue on them and the mole situation is properly taken care of.
