Squirrels Preparing for Winter Inside this Home in Iselin, NJ
Challenge
A homeowner in Iselin, NJ saw a squirrel run across the siding of his house, chew apart a portion of it, and then crawl right into his house! He immediately called our Wildlife Divison and I was sent out to inspect and safely retrieve the squirrel.
When I arrived and inspected the area, I noticed that the opening was full of leaves. Turns out the squirrel was getting ready to start a family and set-up a nest!
Solution
After a thorough inspection, I discovered that there were multiple squirrels inside the home. I decided to set-up a multi-catch device over the opening and reinforce the area with hardware cloth. By reinforcing the area with hardware cloth will provide more support for the multi-catch as well as force the squirrels to exit through our device. A multi-catch is a heavy-duty, two-gaited device with a strong coil spring and swing bar wire trigger. Once the squirrels enter the device and trigger the swing bar, they are safely retrieved.
Once all the squirrels are safely retrieved, I’ll reinforce the siding with sturdy materials, disinfect the area, and relocate the squirrels to a new, humane location.
