Cleaning Comes First
...and a bunch of dirty dishes in the sink. Before we began any sort of treatment, we spoke to the owner and his management team the kitchen must be cleaned and kept clean in order to avoid any future pest problems. Thankfully, they all agreed that these issues must be addressed and began cleaning.
Focus on the Floor Drains
For our treatment, we applied a liquid product to every single floor drain throughout the kitchen and sink area. This application is going to eliminate the bad bacteria inside the drains that the fruit flies breed in. Once that has been eliminated, so will the fruit flies. After that we scrubbed out each one of the floor drains with our heavy-duty scrubbing brush.
Another Part of the Treatment for Fruit Flies
Next, we applied a bio-foam solution that removes all of the organic build-up, odors, and scum in the drains. We then treated the severe problem areas with a fly bait to exterminate the adult fruit flies and then set up several pheromone fruit fly traps. The attractant in the traps will going to draw the fruit flies close and the bait inside the traps will neutralize them within moments of contact. Once we had finished treating the kitchen, we then scheduled several return visits to apply any additional treatments until the fruit flies are no longer present in the restaurant.
