Pests We Treat Photo Album: Bad Sanitation Contributing to a Fruit Fly Problem in Toms River, NJ
We were sent out to a restaurant in Toms River, NJ to handle a fruit fly infestation.
Food Debris Underneath Equipment
Beginning our inspection, we noticed a high volume of fruit flies in the kitchen and this was why. There was a hefty buildup of food debris and gunk underneath a majority of the equipment.
Whole Lot of Food
We also noticed several floor drains that were loaded with more food debris and sugary liquids. Fruit flies were attracted to these areas and started infesting and breeding throughout the kitchen. Before we began any sort of treatment, we informed the owner that the entire kitchen must be cleaned ASAP as well as kept cleaned in order to prevent any future pest issues. We were happy that the owner agreed and immediately started to clean!
Fruit Fly Treatment
In the meantime we applied a liquid application in all the floor drains and then scrubbed them out with our heavy-duty scrubbing brush. Next, we applied a bio-foam solution that removes the organic build-up, odors, and scum in the drains.
Next Steps for Fruit Fly Control
Afterward, we applied a fly bait to the high infestation areas of the restaurant in order to control the adult fruit flies that were flying around. Next, we installed several fruit fly traps. The attractant in the traps draws the fruit flies close and the bait inside the traps exterminates them within moments of contact. Lastly, we scheduled several follow-up visits to monitor the fruit fly activity and apply any additional treatments, if needed.
