Pests We Treat Photo Album: Termite Swarmers Bugging Business Owner in Kendall Park, NJ
We were called out to a business in Kendall Park, NJ to determine if the owner had a termite problem.
You Got Termites
As we inspected the area in question, we confirmed the property manager's suspicion - he had a large termite infestation in the commercial building (mainly in the break room)!
A Ton of Termite Swarmers
The infested areas were full of termite swarmers. Those are the winged adult reproductives in which termite colonies send out in search of a hospitable area. Unlike other termites in a colony, swarmers are attracted to light. Termite swarmers have two pairs of wings that are the same length (which is how you tell the difference between them and other pest swarmers). Their antennae are straight, opposed to ants that have bent antennae, and their waist section is also not pinched like ants.
First Comes This
The first thing we did, with the manager's permission, was drill into the walls of the infested areas and then inject a foaming termiticide. This treatment binds to the treated areas and creates a protective zone that is undetectable to the termites. Afterward, as a precaution, we injected a liquid version of the termiticide around the entire exterior perimeter of the building.
Termites Do All the Work
The termites will come in contact with the termiticide, bring it back to their nest, and then transfer it throughout their colony. The termiticide then spreads rapidly, like a virus, throughout their entire colony! In short amount of time, any and all termites will be exterminated and the building will be properly protected from termites for many years.
