Pests We Treat Photo Album: Maintenance Crew Finds In-Ground Yellow Jackets Nest in Holmdel, NJ
While the maintenance staff at the community in Holmdel, NJ, was cutting the grass they accidentally disturbed an in-ground yellow jacket's nest!
Found in the Ground
Ground-nesting yellowjackets construct paper nests that may contain thousands of larvae and adult workers. These nests are typically located underground in abandoned rodent burrows or in other enclosed spaces such as tree cavities, wall cavities, woodpiles, and dense ivy.
First Thing to Do
First, we injected an aerosol application directly into the opening of the nest. This product will rapidly exterminate the yellow jackets.
Now to Dust Them
After several moments, we applied a dusting product to eliminate any remaining yellow jackets.
They'll Try to Clea it Out
The yellow jackets think they are cleaning this application out of their nest, but in actuality, they are spreading this treatment throughout their nest!
Take it Out
Several moments later we removed the ground nest, disposed of it, and filled in the burrow.
