Pests We Treat Photo Album: Crawl Space Filled with Drain Flies in Matawan, NJ
After a landlord of an apartment complex in Matawan, NJ received a complaint from one of his tenants regarding a large number of flies in their apartment, he called Cowleys and I was sent out to inspect and treat.
In the Crawl Space
Since the tenant lived on a ground unit apartment and the flies were coming up from the vent, I decided to inspect the crawl space. During my inspection I found a massive infestation of drain flies.
Smelled Like Sewage
I noticed that the crawl space was extremely moist and smelled like sewage. As I looked around I found a leak in a sewer pipe underneath the apartment.
This Was the Source
Drain flies love to breed in drains, sewers, soil, and septic tanks that have been contaminated by sewage. This leaky sewer pipe was the source of the drain fly infestation.
We Need to Return
I informed the landlord about the problem so that he can fix it immediately. We will need to return once the pipe has been fixed and the crawl space has been dried out in order to permanently eliminate these drain flies.
