Pests We Treat Photo Album: Small Hole in Ceiling Filled With Yellow Jackets in Rumson, NJ
An elderly homeowner in Rumson, NJ called our office to report a room full of dead and live flys. Upon inspection, we quickly realized that these weren't flys, but yellow jackets!
Those Aren't Flys
Once we entered the room, we realized that these were actually yellow jackets!
Some Were Still Alive
There were hundreds of expired yellow jackets throughout the room. There were even more that were alive and flying around the room!
What's That?
We needed to find the source. So we inspected the room and noticed a small hole in the ceiling. As we got closer, an army of yellow jackets started to fly out and attack us (don't worry, we had our protective bee suits on)! That's were their nest was located!
Caused by Water Damage
Previously, the homeowner had a leak and water damage occurred and caused the hole in the ceiling. The yellow jackets eventually made a home in that area and, over time, expanded their nest.
Vacuum and Treat
We treated the nest with a knockdown dust and aerosol product, which'll quickly eliminate the yellow jackets. After several minutes, we vacuumed up the expired stinging insects and removed the nest.
Temporary Seal
The homeowner had already scheduled a contractor to come out and repair her ceiling, but in the meantime, we temporarily sealed up the hole to prevent reinfestation.
