Pests We Treat Photo Album: Fruit Fly Explosion in Holmdel, NJ
While performing a routine inspection in a commercial building in Holmdel, NJ, I came across a large number of fruit flies in the back room.
On the Back Wall
There was a large number of fruit flies congregating on the back wall by the mop sink.
Breeding in the Rags
I took a closer look and found them breeding on a pile of wet rags in a bucket inside the mop sink.
Anything That Has a Moist Organic Film
Fruit flies are especially attracted to fermenting fruits and vegetables but will also breed in drains, empty bottles or cans, mops and cleaning rags.
Time to Treat
While the owner disposed of the rags, I scrubbed out all the drains in the area and applied a bio foam solution to help dissolve the organic material that built up to prevent the fruit flies from breeding.
