Follow the Carpenter Ants
After finding carpenter ants in the basement and the living room, I followed their trail from the basement all the way to an old tree in the backyard - which was about 50 feet from the house! This was where their main nest was.
They Can Forage Far
Carpenter ants can forage as far as 100 yards, or the length of a football field, when setting up a colony.
Treating the Interior and Exterior
I began treating along the sill plate in the basement, along the baseboards in the living areas, and around the exterior doors and windows with a non-repellent residual product. I also treated the main nest with the residual and applied a granular bait around the base of the tree.
They Have No Idea
The carpenter ants unknowingly come in contact with these products and transfer them to the other colony members. In a short amount of time, the carpenter ants are exterminated.
