Pests We Treat Photo Album: Home Heavily Infested with Moths in Howell, NJ
I was sent out on a service call to a residence in Howell, NJ for a complaint of moths in the house.
All Over the House
Upon inspection I found moths and their egg sacs all over the kitchen, the sun room, and the garage.
The Largest Infestation
As I continued, I found the largest infestation in between this exterior door frame. You can see all the egg sacks tucked away in the frame.
Identified Them As
I was able to identify these moths as Mimosa Webworm moths. Mimosa Webworm moths are about an inch long, slender caterpillars that web up the foliage of mimosa and honey locust from June to September. They are grayish to dark brown with five white stripes.
More About Mimosa Webworm Moths
When disturbed, they are extremely active and thrash violently before dropping down on silk strands. They overwinter inside a white, silken cocoon as a slender brown pupa in mulch, on tree trunks or some other sheltered areas.
Cowleys Moth Treatment
I'm going to treat the cracks and crevices all around the doors, windows, and siding throughout the home with a residual aerosol that'll rapidly exterminate the moths, their nests, and their eggs. Once that is completed, I'm going to apply a liquid residual throughout the home to prevent any future infestations.
