They Were Digger Bee Mounds
As soon as I began inspecting, I spotted a large number of bees hovering over these pencil-sized dirt mounds throughout the yard. Within minutes, I identified them as digger bees.
What Are Digger Bees
Digger bees are 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch in size and are solitary, non-social wasps. Each hole is a separate, independent nest of digger bees. The females dig these half-inch to one-inch deep burrows to nest and raise young.
Aren't Aggressive, But
Digger Bees aren't aggressive at all and, unless you directly grab them, they do not sting. The do however destroy lawns.
Particularly Attracted to
Digger bees are attracted to un-manicured lawns. You may notice digger bees in dry or shady spots in your yard where the grass is sparse.
Cowleys Extermination of Digger Bees
I soaked each digger bee mound with a liquid application. Once the digger bees come in contact with this product, they are eliminated
