Pests We Treat Photo Album: Rat Burrows Surrounding Home in Little Silver, NJ
I went out on a service call for a customer in Little Silver, NJ that was seeing small holes appearing at the rear of his property.
Those Are Rats Burrows
Upon inspection of the area, it was determined that these burrows were caused by rats. Rats create these burrows from their nest to a food source as well as to escape predators and are usually located under bushes or dense vegetation. Rat burrows usually contain a main entrance and 1 or 2 exit holes away from the main entrance.
How To Identify the Burrows
The main opening to a rat's burrow is 2 to 4 inches in diameter and is smooth from use. Occasionally, there will be a pile of rat feces near the opening.
Total Number of Burrows
Completing my inspecting I found a total of four rat burrows.
Set-Up the RTU's
I installed several exterior rodent bait stations near each of the openings.
Follow the Same Path
Rats will follow the same pathways over and over again and will be tempted to enter the bait stations. In no time at all, they will be eliminated.
Return and Reinspect
I scheduled a follow-up visit to replenish the bait stations, monitor the infestation, and, if necessary, apply additional treatments.
