Hovering Near The Sink
While I was servicing this commercial account I discovered a plethora of fruit flies hovering over a trash bin in the kitchen.
Forgot to Take Out
Upon inspection, I found that the bin was filled with discarded produce, soda, and juice. Apparently, the night shift forgot to take out the trash and 6 hours later, fruit flies decided to make that area their new home.
They LOVE It
Fruit flies are attracted to fermented fruits, vegetables, sugars and liquid residue that builds up in trash cans and drains. They can also have the potential to lay about 500 eggs and their entire lifecycle from egg to adult can be completed in about a week! This is why sanitation is extremely important!
The Solution
I disposed of the garbage immediately and the staff will clean out the trash bin. Removing the garbage will also eliminate the fruit flies breeding area. I also applied a bio foam solution to the area, which will eliminate any lingering fruit flies.
