After a thorough inspection, bed bugs were found on the mattress and box spring in the apartment. All of the other furniture appeared to be clean but we decided to vacuum and do a light liquid application just in case.
Why Treat the Whole Home?
By treating the whole apartment it would eliminate any potential harborage areas. The majority of the activity appeared to be full of a recent blood meal so acting quickly was of the utmost importance.
Vacuuming From Top to Bottom
We vacuumed all of the cracks and crevice areas of the mattress, boxspring, baseboards, as well as the window and door trims.
Vacuuming: An Important Tool
Not only does vacuuming remove the live bed bugs but also any dead ones that may be in the vicinity. After vacuuming, we installed a mattress and box spring encasements. The encasements will make sure that anything and everything stays in the encasement. It also helps that they are white so it's easy to see any activity against that color.
The Liquid Application
The liquid application provides a residual product that not only neutralizes the bed bugs on contact but stays active in the event that any foraging bed bugs crawl into it. This is a very important part of the process and we do all of these things in unison to get rid of the problem as quickly as possible.
One Happy Manager
We scheduled a two week follow up where we will come back and assess the situation and repeat the process. The building manager was extremely happy that we were able to take care of this situation before it spread to any other units.
