Pests We Treat Photo Album: Inspecting for Rodents in Englishtown, NJ

A manager of an office in Englishtown, NJ called our office after some of the employees kept hearing the sounds of mice throughout the building.

Front Door

As soon as I was about to enter the building I noticed that there was a wide gap on the bottom of the front door which is the perfect size for mice to enter.

Mouse Hole

As I began inspecting the exterior of the property, immediately I spotted a rodent burrow. Rodents create burrows from their nest to food sources and to escape predators. These burrows are usually located under bushes or other types of dense vegetation.

Opening Around Utility Line

As I continued the inspection, I found another access point for mice by the utility line leading into the crawl space. Mice only need an opening the size of a pencil to enter a structure and openings like these need to be sealed up properly and immediately.

Continuing my inspection I noticed a huge gap leading into the crawl space.

Feces

I inspected and found mouse droppings. Mouse droppings are generally an eighth to a quarter of an inch in length. Their droppings are known, if disturbed, to spread various diseases and virus, most notoriously the Hantavirus.

Why an Inspection is Important

It's vital to perform a thorough inspection to not only verify the rodent or pest infestation, but also determine where they are coming from and how are they entering the building. This helps us determine the proper treatment methods.

The Report

I reported my findings to the manager and informed them that they do indeed have mice in their office. The manager informed me that he will discuss everything with his landlord and give us a call back for treatment.
