Around the Pantry
I began inspecting the kitchen pantry and immediately spotted Indian meal moths and their larvae all over and inside a box of cereal. Indian meal moths, also called pantry moths, are one of the most annoying pests homeowners and businesses deal with. They attack all cereal products, whole grains, dried fruits and pet foods, costing homeowners and businesses hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars.
Food, but No Pet
Continuing my inspection, I noticed a bag of dog food near the kitchen table. I inspected and found more Indian meal moths inside. The homeowner told me that her pet passed away some time ago and she didn't have the heart to get rid of the food.
Discard the Food
After informing the homeowner that the old pet food was attracting the Indian meal moths, she agreed to have me remove it. I also removed every perishable item inside the pantry.
How to Eliminate Them
By removing the contaminated food, we're also removing the harboring areas for the Indian meal moths. Once everything was discarded, I sanitized the area and applied a liquid residual application that'll eliminate any remaining Indian meal moths.
