Pests We Treat Photo Album: Restaurant Drain Issue in Wall Township, NJ
While performing a routine treatment for one of our commercial accounts in Wall Township, NJ we uncovered an issue with drain flies in the kitchen area.
Dirty Drain
Beginning our inspection, we noticed a few flies hovering around two drains in the kitchen area. We took a closer look and identified them as drain flies.
What are Drain Flies
Drain flies are small, black to brown colored flies that are about 1/8th an inch in size. The primarily thrive and breed in drains and their key identifying trait is the unique pattern of veins in their wings.
Can Get Out of Control
Drain Flies live and breed in the debris and muck that builds up in the drains. Without a regular cleaning regiment in place, the drain fly infestation can accumulate quickly and can spread to other areas of the business.
Get to Scrubbing
To treat this, we scrubbed and removed all the muck out of the drain using a heavy-duty scrub brush.
Extensive Cleaning
Then we applied a liquid solution to every single drain in the kitchen and surrounding areas that removes the bad bacteria from the drain.
Prevention is Key
We then applied a bio-foam solution that removes the build-up, odors, and scum in drains to help prevent and get rid of existing drain flies. We then spoke to the manager about a few simple sanitiation procedures to implement in order to prevent any future pest infestations.
