Pests We Treat Photo Album: Pavement Ants in Sea Girt, NJ
As we went out on a service call for a homeowner in Sea Girt, NJ we discovered a healthy colony of pavement ants trailing from the exterior of her home to the living room.
Pavement Ants Crawling
Once we started inspecting the exterior of the home we found pavement ants trailing along the side of the foundation. Why are they called pavement ants? Because they typically nest in the pavement!
Coming from the Mulch
As we followed their pheromone trail we discovered that the pavement ants were nesting in the mulch bed. Mulch holds moisture and provides shade to the ants, making it the perfect habitat for them to build a home.
Getting into the Home Through the Siding
We also noticed that the ants were trailing underneath the exterior siding. We inspected the inside of the home and found several trails of pavement ants in the living room.
Time for Treatment
We applied a non-repellant residual along the entire exterior of the home, along the baseboards and cracks in the living room and the surrounding rooms as well. Once the ants come in contact with either of these treatments, they will transfer to the other ants in the colony. In a few weeks, the ants are no more!
