Pests We Treat Photo Album: Ticks, Mosquitoes, and Ants in Millstone Township, NJ
We were sent out on a service call for a homeowner with a rather large property in Millstone Township, NJ. The homeowner was having a severe issue with mosquitoes biting his family every time they went outside. Mosquito bites can be more than just annoying and itchy, they can spread viruses that make you sick or, in extreme cases, cause death. As we began our inspection, we found a lot more than just mosquitoes infesting this homeowners property.
Standing Water is a Breeding Ground for Mosquitoes
Beginning our inspection, we found mosquitoes all over the backyard hovering over several standing bodies of water. The standing bodies of water in the backyard are helping the mosquitoes thrive. A mosquito only needs about a 1/2 inch of water to breed.
We found Mosquitoes, Ticks...
Continuing our inspection, we discovered another dangerous pest - ticks! You'll primarily find ticks along the treeline, high brush areas, and areas that are shaded on a property. Ticks can also encroach on a property within 10 feet from the wood line.
And Carpenter Ants!
We even found carpenter ants near a stump approximately 25 to 30 feet away from the house!
First Eliminate the Ants
Carpenter ants get their name from their nest building, where they will excavate wood and form smooth tunnels inside of it. We applied a liquid residual application from the stump all the way to the perimeter of the house. The ants will come in contact with this application and transfer it among the colony. In a short amount of time, the entire ant colony is eliminated.
Spray the High Foliage Areas
Next, we sprayed around the entire exterior perimeter of the home and the high foliage areas with a micro-encapsulating application. This application will stick to the bottom of the leaves and once a mosquito or a tick comes in contact with the solution, they will be eliminated.
Toss in the Briquets
After spraying we tossed briquets containing a larvicide into these areas of standing water to keep any mosquito eggs that may have been laid in this area from ever becoming an adult mosquito.
