Pests We Treat Photo Album: Bed bugs in Old Bridge, NJ

I was sent to a home in Old Bridge to perform a bed bug servicing. Upon arrival, I immediately conducted a thorough inspection throughout the home to determine the scope of the infestation and where treatment would be required. Unfortunately, this homeowner had delayed contacting a pest control service, and instead attempted to self-treat using an over-the-counter product. As often happens, these products not only fail to resolve the infestation, but make matters worse. Here, I actually found bed bugs moving towards the ceiling in places where the homeowner had applied product and wound up “chasing” and scattering the bugs upward. It is unusual to find bed bugs more than a few feet from where they are biting the hosts for their blood meal. To see bed bugs heading for the ceiling was unusual to say the least. Unfortunately, home remedies or store-bought products, because they help disburse the bed bugs throughout the home, complicate matters for the bed bug technician. Time and time again, we see what was once a localized infestation transform into a multi-room infestation because the homeowner delayed getting professional treatment and attempted to use “Internet wisdom” to treat the infestation themselves.
