Termites Throughout the Office in Tinton Falls, NJ
Challenge
A property manager of a commercial building in Tinton Falls, NJ, called Cowleys after noticing that the trim in one of the offices appeared to be damaged by termites. So we were sent out to inspect and treat. As we started inspecting the building, we came across the damaged area and found active termite mud tubes nearby! Since the building had a crawl space, we continued our inspection to that area and found active termites swarmers throughout the crawl space! Termite swarmers are the winged adult reproductives that leave their current nest to form their own colony.
Termites are often called the silent destroyers of homes since subterranean insects do their damage hidden from plain view. It's easy for homeowners and property owners to miss the often subtle signs of a termite infestation until there has already been substantial damage to the home!
Solution
Since termites live beneath the soil, with the owners permission, we drilled into the flooring of the crawl space, in several offices, and around the exterior home. Afterward, we injected a liquid termiticide. This treatment binds to the treated areas and creates a protective zone that the termites can't detect. When drilling, it's imperative that we space the holes at least 15-18 inches apart. This ensures that the liquid application has room to spread out and increases the chance that the termites will walk through the termiticide.
The termites will come in contact with the termiticide as they go about their normal routines and transfer it throughout their colony. The treatment then spreads like a virus throughout their colony. In a short amount of time, the termites are exterminated and the building is protected from termites for years to come.
