Rats & Mold Throughout the Crawl Space in Neshanic Station, NJ
Challenge
A new client in Neshanic Station, NJ immediately called our office after finding a rat in her attached garage! Once we arrived and inspected the area, we did find rat droppings in the garage, but not a large amount, so we decided to inspect the exterior of the home. That's when we noticed a pile of rat droppings around a crawl space vent that was broken. We took a look in the the crawl space and were shocked at what we found. Not only did we find large amounts of rat droppings throughout the area, but there was massive mold growth all over the walls and the beams! The insulation was also falling down (due to moisture), was torn apart by the rats, and full of more rat droppings and urine. We brought this to the owner's attention, who had no idea that she even had a crawl space! We did mention that our Mold Division can come out (once the rats are gone), remove the mold, and encapsulate the crawl space. She liked hearing that and made an appointment.
Solution
For treatment, we carefully cleaned up the rat droppings and installed several rodent bait stations throughout the crawl space, the garage, and the exterior of the home. Lastly, we scheduled several follow up visits to monitor the rat activity and replenish the bait stations as needed.
