Poor Sanitation Causing a Cockroach Problem in Kendall Park, NJ
Challenge
A new business owner purchased an old restaurant in Kendall Park, NJ and had plans to renovate it. The thing is, the previous owner wasn't too keen on keeping his building clean, which lead to a cockroach infestation. Upon discovering this, the new entrepreneur called our office for help.
As we inspected the area, we discovered several areas in between and underneath the kitchen equipment that had a build up of food debris and grease. All of that food debris and liquids as well as the darkness provide the perfect harborage area for cockroaches to thrive. Cockroaches can spread at least 33 kinds of bacteria, 6 kinds of parasitic worms, and 7 other kinds of human pathogens.
Solution
We informed the owner that everything perishable in the kitchen must be thrown away, any dishes, pots, & utensils must be removed and washed thoroughly, and that all kitchen equipment must be covered. Once that’s done, we throughly treated the area with our microinjector. Our microinjector contains an EPA registered insect growth regulator that is combined with a residual product. This treatment affects the cockroaches' reproductive system and prevents them from reaching adulthood.
Next, we set up several monitoring devices and then scheduled several follow-up visits to apply any additional treatments if needed and to monitor the infestation.
