Ants in December in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ
Challenge
On an unusually warm day in December, we received a call from a customer in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ who had a large number of ants in her living room. When we arrived we spotted the ants trailing from the living room to the kitchen and then from the kitchen to the bathroom. Upon closer inspection, we identified these pests as carpenter ants.
Carpenter ants are wood-destroying insects. They are so named because they excavate wood in order to build their nests. Carpenter ants nest outdoors in damp, decaying wood like tree stumps, logs, or hollowed-out trees. Occasionally, carpenter ants build their nest inside a home, seeking out water-damaged, decaying wood that they can easily excavate. In doing so, they can seriously damage the structure of the home.
Following their trail to the living room, we found a clear entryway right into the baseboard.
Solution
We injected a knockdown aerosol application directly into the entryway. This application will rapidly exterminate the carpenter ants. Afterward, we treated the baseboards, cracks, and crevices in the living room, kitchen, boiler room, bathroom, and exterior perimeter of the home with a liquid non-repellant. Once the carpenter ants come in contact with this product, they'll return to their nest and, unknowingly, transfer the treatment throughout their colony, by grooming or feeding one another.
A short while later, the ants are eliminated and the home will be pest-free just in time for the holidays!
