Tenant Has Bed Bugs in Freehold, NJ

Challenge

A property manager in Freehold, NJ called our office after one of his tenants found a bed bug on him. We were sent out to inspect and treat. Once we arrived, we inspected the apartment and found a number of bed bugs in the seams of the box spring and mattress. The tenant was confused as to why he even had bed bugs as he kept his apartment clean and tidy.

We explained that bed bugs are expert hitchhikers and that even the neatest person in the world can get them. Bed bugs can be found in doctors' offices, movie theaters, bus stations, and other locations. They aren't attracted to filth, they are attracted to blood and they can be found in the cleanest environments. 

Solution

First, we vacuumed up the live bed bugs and treated the baseboards, mattress, bed frame, and the surrounding areas with a bio-pesticide application. Next, we treated every outlet throughout the home with a residual dusting product. Both of these treatments will eradicate bed bugs of all life stages, sex, and feeding status within a short amount of time. Afterward, we installed a mattress and box spring encasement over the mattress, which will help us monitor the bed bug infestation as well as trap them.  Lastly, we scheduled several follow-up visits to monitor the infestation and, if needed, apply any additional treatments.
