Crawl Space Filled with Cave Crickets in Jackson, NJ
Challenge
As I was treating the exterior of one of our Home Protection Plan clients' home in Jackson, NJ, the owner approached me and asked if I could treat her crawl space as well. As I made my way down, I was greeted by a massive infestation of camel crickets!
Everyone knows camel crickets, they just don't know that's what they're called. Many people refer to them as "sprickets" (a terrifying combination of acricket and a spider) because when you approach them, they jump right at you! A fun fact is that these nightmare fueled pests aren't arachnids. They get their name from their humpbacked appearance, which resembles a camel and is found in the damp, cool areas of your home, usually a basement or crawl space.
Solution
I applied both a liquid application and granular bait treatment throughout the crawl space. I also sprayed the block wall and sill plate to prevent the crickets from possibly entering the home through any small gaps around the wire and pipe chases, and I placed more granular bait around the base of the foundation wall. Both of these applications will eliminate the camel crickets almost immediately. I also placed several glue monitor traps throughout the crawl space to monitor the infestation for when I return for a follow-up visit.
