Pest Control in Long Branch, NJ
Challenge
A homeowner in Long Branch, NJ contacted Cowleys complaining of hornets in their front yard. I equipped my bee suit and began a thorough inspection of the home. After a few minutes, I found the hornet's nest in a tree by the side of the house near their living room window. I took a closer look and identified these hornets as bald-faced hornets.
Bald-faced hornets are social stinging insects that are a close relative to yellowjackets, the surface of their upper-midsection almost looks triangular from the side, and they have white markings on their face. Their aerial nests are grey, paper-like and are enclosed. Their stings carry venom that makes the stings hurt, itch and swell for about 24 hours.
Solution
Since bald-faced hornets are extremely aggressive, especially when someone or something comes within close proximity to their nest, I will need to treat this nest carefully. I used my extendable and treated the nest with an aerosol flusher from a safe distance. The aerosol application neutralizes the hornets on contact.
After a few minutes, I equipped my scraper to the extendable pole and removed the nest and the branch that the nest was attached to from the tree and properly disposed of them. The homeowner was thrilled that the hornets were gone for good. Another satisfied customer of Cowleys!
