Excluding the Birds from the Loading Dock in Edison, NJ
Challenge
For quite some time, this business owner in Edison, NJ has dealt with nuisance birds roosting in his buildings loading dock and creating unsanitary, dangerous, and unhealthy conditions for his workers. Finally, he had enough and contacted our Bird Solutions department for help.
After inspecting the area, we determined that the most humane and efficient way to prevent the birds from harboring in the loading dock was to install bird netting.
Solution
Bird netting is a 3/4 inch, heavy duty polyethylene net that is used to humanely block the nuisance birds by creating an impenetrable barrier that denies them the access to this area. In order to make sure the bird netting is secured, we used a stainless steel cable with net spikes and anchored it into the walls of the loading dock. We then locked the cables in place using copper ferrules and then installed turnbuckles (which tighten the cable). We also used hog rings which secures the cable and connects it to the bird netting.
We also added in several large zipper sections so that the maintenance team can have easy access to maintain the area. The nuisance birds will fly around, realize they can't enter, and move on. Now nuisance birds will no longer roost in the loading dock!
